An apprentice is an employee who has entered into an indenture of apprenticeship (training agreement) with Sydney City Lexus, which leads to a recognised trade qualification.

During this time an apprentice is contracted with Sydney City Lexus to learn about a trade, and combine practical experience at work with off-the-job training. The indenture is lodged with the NSW Vocational Training Board.

Attendance at the off-the-job component of an apprenticeship is compulsory and is important as the on-the-job training. The off-the-job training is for one day per week for the first three years of the apprenticeship.

A trade certificate is issued when an apprentice has:

• Achieved the relevant trade standards and competencies in the workplace.
• Successfully completed an off-the-job training program with a registered training provider.

The responsibility of Sydney City Lexus is to provide our apprentices with:

• The full range of work experience required to develop the skills and industry knowledge they need on the job under the guidance of a qualified person.
• Access to on and off the job training in accordance with their apprenticeship.
• Time at work to undertake the specified training.
• A safe working environment.
• A work environment free from any form of harassment e.g. bullying, sexual, racial.
• Observe the progress of our apprentices and develop the required skills and knowledge.
• Payment of their work as set out under the Federal Vehicle Industry Repair, Service and Retail Award.

• Make every effort to acquire the skills and knowledge required by their apprenticeship.
• Accept all instructions and training given by or on behalf of Sydney City Lexus.
• Fulfill their obligations as an employee.
• Make every effort to complete the required on-the-job and off-the-job training.
