Flowing body design

With its distinctive ‘L–finesse' design, the GS 460 displays seamless curves with its longer bonnet and pulled back cabin. The refreshed front bumper and grille treatment integrates cleanly with the fog lights, creating a bold, confident stance. Not surprising, such a flowing, more dynamic design also delivers impressive aerodynamics for low drag and a quiet cabin.

Electrochromatic Mirrors

The exterior mirrors feature a sleek, aerodynamic look which also reduces wind noise and now incorporate turn indicators. Being electrochromatic mirrors, they automatically dim to quell the annoyance of headlamp glare from following motorists at night.

The convenience of a Smart Key Card

With dimensions around the same as a conventional credit card, the Smart Key Card slips easily into your pocket. It also has a conventional key enclosed for emergency use.

Easy access with Smart Entry/Smart Start

You can unlock the doors or boot by simply gripping the handle, without ever taking the Smart Key Card from your pocket. Once inside, you can start the car with similar ease, at the touch of a button. After your journey as you step out and close the doors, the car is locked up automatically as you walk away.

Alloy Wheels

There is a new 5–spoke, 18" alloy wheel design wearing low profile tyres which adds to the dynamic styling as well as impressive cornering capabilities of the GS 460.

Radar technology scans the road ahead

The front grille design is smart as well as stylish. A radar sensor is discreetly incorporated into the grille works as part of the Active Cruise Control* (ACC) and Pre–Collision safety System** (PCS) to monitor the road ahead.

See clearly through rain repellent windows

Special coatings on the front side windows accelerate dispersion of water droplets, for better visibility on drizzly days.

Visibly better rain sensing wipers

To allow you to keep your mind focused on your driving, the GS is equipped with rain sensing wipers. If it begins to rain, sensors in the front windscreen automatically switch on the windscreen wipers, so you don't have to.

The comfort of UV reducing glass

The windows in the doors, rear door quarters and the rear window are a UV–reducing tinted glass. This reduces sunlight into the cabin for a cooler cabin, increased comfort and visibility.

Power operated moonroof

You can bring the ambience of the outdoors in with fingertip ease, via the power–operated moonroof.

Glare free instrumentation

For optimum instrument readability even in bright sunlight, there's an Electro–Chromatic Device (ECD) system installed in the meter glass of the dash. It controls sunlight reflection by day and enhances the readout visibility at night, allowing the instrumentation to keep you informed at all times.

Interior Treatment

A metallic finish on the meter faces and gear shifter face plate complements the clean, contemporary look of the GS interior. The steering wheel incorporates controls for the audio, cruise control, phone, Multi Information Display and speech commands.

Climate controlled seats with memory

Whatever the weather, Climate Controlled Front seats keep you refreshed on long hot journeys, or toasty warm on cool days. Eight–way power adjustment lets you easily tailor settings to maintain your preferred posture. If another driver has been in your car, the memory function allows personalised settings to be instantly recalled at the touch of a button.

Audiophile quality Mark Levinson audio system

Immerse your mind in the indulgence of an audio system by world renowned designer Mark Levinson. The 14–speaker system he created has a six–disc DVD/CD changer and an Automatic Sound Leveliser which continuously fine tunes sound quality. Audio controls are conveniently located on the steering wheel. In addition, a USB connector provides the functionality for flash memory drives and full iPod®* control via the EMV (Electro Multi Vision) touch screen.

Satellite Navigation guidance

Park Assist Monitor

Once you select reverse, a colour image appears on the Electro Multi Vision (EMV) display. On–screen guidelines help you plot the ideal course into your parking space.

Rear view camera with Rear Guide Assist

For easier reversing, you have the guidance of a Rear View Camera^ discreetly mounted above the licence plate. Select reverse and a colour image of what's immediately behind your rear bumper appears on the Electro Multi Vision (EMV) screen. Rear Guide Assist gives you a more precise indication of distances for easier parking and reversing.

To reduce glare, an electric rear sunshade emerges at the touch of a button for greater passenger comfort.

4.6 Litre Dual VVT–i V8 Engine

Feel the power as 4.6 litres and 32 valves in a lightweight all–aluminium Quad Cam engine deliver brisk acceleration. Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT–i) with electric inlet camshaft timing control (VVT–iE), dual injection and an Acoustic Control Indection System (ACIS) ensure optimum performance throughout the engine revolution range, with remarkably low emissions and surprising fuel economy.

Sequential eight–speed automatic

This is the world's first eight–speed transmission in a mid sized luxury sedan. It gives you the ratios you need for crisp response, safer overtaking and for accelerating strongly out of tight corners. It even benefits fuel economy. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Shift Control thinks ahead, selecting the right gear on hills to minimise up–shifting and down shifting. Then in sequential shifting mode, you have the performance driving dynamics of a manual.

The confidence of Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management

Should you encounter challenging road conditions, an advanced Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system offers a greater sense of control. It integrates the braking, throttle and steering controls, for enhanced drivability.

Fingertip control with Electric Power Steering

Enjoy improved steering efficiency when parking, plus greater road feel at high speeds, the GS is equipped with Electric Power Steering. This system dispenses with hydraulic hoses and pumps and only uses energy when turning, which improves fuel economy. In addition, Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) helps produce excellent handling and drivability by adjusting the steering response according to vehicle speed.

Comfort and control with Adaptive Variable Suspension

For a more stimulating drive, you can fine–tune suspension damping settings to 'Normal' for everyday driving situations, or to 'Sport' for superior handling and stability, while maintaining superb ride comfort. All at the touch of a button.

The reassurance of Lexus Pre-collision safety

For added peace of mind, the Lexus Pre- Collision safety System (PCS)* can help reduce collision injury and damage. A radar sensor in the front grille constantly scans for objects in front of the car. If the system determines that a collision is unavoidable, it retracts the front seatbelts and signals the Brake Assist system to increase braking force and hence help reduce collision speed.

Relax as Active Cruise Control watches ahead

For more relaxed highway cruising, Active Cruise Control (ACC)** monitors the road ahead of you. In addition to its roe in the PCS, the radar sensor in the front grille also works as part of the Active Cruise Control (ACC). You can simply set your preferred highway speed via touch controls on the steering wheel, or you can set your desired following distance from the vehicle in front. Then, should the radar detect that distance is closing or detect another vehicle in your path, Active Cruise Control decelerates the vehicle and even applies the brakes if necessary. Your nominated speed is resumed once a safe following distance can be maintained.

Adaptive Front Lighting looks around corners

To give you greater night vision, GS 460 has halogen high- beam headlamps and projector- type High Intensity Discharge (HID) low beams. On winding roads, the Adaptive Front- lighting System (AFS) redirects the low- beam headlampss, so you can literally see around corners.

Feel at ease with dual front & knee airbags

For peace of mind, there are front and side- mounted airbags for both driver and front passenger. The front airbags have two- stage operation. There are also knee airbags for driver and front passenger to help protect the lower limbs.

Full-length curtain shield airbags

To help reduce the impact of severe side- impact accidents, full- length curtain airbags stretching from front to rear deploy to cover the side windows. Together with the front side and the rear side airbags, GS 460 has a total of ten SRS airbags.

Responsive LED tail lights

The rear tail lights incorporate LED lamps that illuminate faster than conventional incandescent lamps. So when you apply the brakes, following traffic is alerted sooner.
