Refreshed frontal treatment
Lexus' distinctive L-finesse design treatment accelerates ahead with an aggressively restyled front bumper and grille treatment. Powerful character lines sweep dramatically across the bonnet and flow seamlessly down the side panels to the rear end. It's a body design that's low on drag but high on excitement which heightens your sense of anticipation for the journey ahead.
More kick in the rear
The look concludes with a redesigned rear bumper which integrates seamlessly with the tailpipe outlets, complemented by refreshed tail lamps incorporating fast-acting LED lamps.
Alloy wheel designs
The styling of the IS 250 is underpinned by distinctive alloy wheels. The IS 250 Prestige and Sports Luxury models are distinguished by elegant 17" 10-spoke alloy wheels or choose the Prestige 'F SPORT' Package which offers 18" bi 5-spoke alloy wheels. In each vehicle, the spare is a space saver, for compact storage in the boot.
Precise panel fitment
The L-finesse styling is enhanced by more precise engineering that ensures tighter body panel fitment for seamless flowing lines.
Easy access with Smart Key
Step inside with minimal delay as Smart Key allows you to unlock the doors by simply gripping the handle, without ever taking the key from your pocket. You can start the car with similar ease, at the touch of a button.
Power windows with slow speed function
In keeping with the luxury status of the IS 250, the power windows begin opening at a slower speed, and gracefully slow down when almost closed, for quieter operation. It's yet another instance of Lexus' meticulous attention to detail.
Interior
The clarity of a simplified instrument cluster
A new, simplified instrument cluster design ensures more intuitive access to the controls during performance driving situations, while the metal finish frame asserts a crisp look. The restyled speedometer/tachometer display and ensures easier visual communication of performance data.
Colour coded meters
To keep you better informed as the car's speed and the engine revolutions climb, the colour on the speedometer and tachometer changes. This warns you when engine revs or the car's speed have reached your pre–selected limits.
Glare–free Optiron instrumentation
Enjoy greater instrument clarity in all light conditions, even nightime, thanks to an Optitron meter with metallic accents and three–dimensional LED instrumentation.
Illuminated mirrors and door lock switches
The exterior mirror and the door lock switch controls have been restyled and are now illuminated making them easier to locate after dark.
Auto retracting mirrors
The side mirrors in the Sports Luxury automatically retract the moment you switch off the ignition, to keep them tucked inwards while parked. Then once the ignition is switched on again, both mirrors resume their outward position. You've also the option of retracting the mirrors at the touch of a switch when manoeuvring into tight parking spots.
Climate seats (on some models)
On frosty mornings simply select your preferred seating temperature and the heated front seats will keep you warm.
The luxury of a soft leather accented interior
Leather accented interior is standard on the IS 250 Prestige. A unique stitching technique carefully conceals stitch holes, for a near–flawless finish. The seats are power operated, which means selecting the perfect seat position is right at your fingertips.
Adjustable rear headrests
The rear headrests are height adjustable to suit rear passengers of all heights. They're also foldable which offers the driver enhanced rear visibility when not in use.
Power at your fingertips
A DC power outlet auxiliary and USB input jack have been conveniently located within the centre console, allowing you to plug in additional accessories like your phone and to recharge them as you drive.

Exceptional purity of sound
You‘re entertained by an audio system with 13 strategically located speakers and a 6-disc in-dash CD changer. Audio controls located on the steering wheel let you adjust sound levels as you drive. In Sports Luxury models, the bar is raised even higher with a 14-speaker system created by audiophile designer Mark Levinson. The chief engineer even sourced water from springs famous for producing premium quality sake to develop a new cone paper for the sub woofer speaker. In addition, a USB connector provides the functionality for flash memory drives and full iPod®^ control via the EMV (Electro Multi Vision) touch screen.
MP3/WMA compatible
For more music capacity, the CD player accepts MP3 and WMA formatted discs. An audio jack and USB lets you plug in MP3 players like your iPod. MP3/WMA is available on Prestige and Sports models with the Satellite Navigation option; the DVD player accepts MP3 and WMA formatted DVD discs.
Perforated sun visors
An obsession with sound quality even extends to sun visors that are perforated like the walls of a sound studio, to absorb exterior sound and reduce cabin reverberation.
Inbuilt Bluetooth® keeps you in touch
In the Sports Luxury, simply register your Bluetooth® compatible mobile with the inbuilt system for hands free communication. Call functions are right at your fingertips via the EMV screen, letting you search the phone book, register and receive calls. Bluetooth® is available on Prestige and Sports models with the Satellite Navigation option.
Electric rear sunshade
To reduce glare in the rear seat of Sports Luxury models, an electric rear sunshade extends over the rear window at the touch of a button, for greater passenger comfort. It retracts automatically when reverse is selected.
Rear View Camera for easier reversing *
Satellite Navigation equipped models offer you the guidance of a Rear View Camera discreetly mounted above the licence plate. Select reverse and a colour image of what's immediately behind your rear bumper appears on the Electro Multi Vision (EMV) screen. Rear Guide Assist gives you a more precise indication of distances for easier parking and reversing.
The guidance of Satellite Navigation **
You‘ll be guided to your destination by a DVD-based Satellite Navigation system, which is standard in the Sports Luxury model. Visual maps and spoken commands provide directions, virtually making paper maps a thing of the past. It now offers enhanced precision, route guidance, functionality and map view, pinpointing your location with even greater accuracy.

Safety
Australia's highest safety rating
You've greater peace of mind in knowing the IS250 has achieved the highest rating by the Australasian New car Assessment Programme (ANCAP). With its extensive array of active and passive safety systems, including a full complement of airbags, it achieved a five star rating for driver and passenger safety.
Pre–Collision Safety system
For added peace of mind, IS 250 Sports Luxury has the Lexus Pre–Collision safety System (PCS) – to help reduce collision injury and damage. A radar sensor in the front grille constantly scans for objects in front of the car. If the system determines that a collision is unavoidable, it retracts the front seatbelts and signals the Brake Assist system to increase braking force and hence help reduce collision speed.
Active Cruise Control (ACC)** monitors ahead
For more relaxed highway cruising, IS 250 Sports Luxury has Active Cruise Control (ACC)**, using the radar sensor in the front grille. You can simply set your preferred highway speed via touch controls on the steering wheel, or you can set your desired following distance from the vehicle in front. Then, should the radar detect that distance is closing or detect another vehicle in your path, Active Cruise Control reduces your speed and even applies the brakes if necessary. Your nominated speed is resumed once a safe following distance can be maintained.
Knee airbags
A class–leading SRS airbag package includes dual front airbags, front side airbags and full–length side curtain shield airbags as standard. In addition, all models have front knee airbags, to help reduce the chance of lower limb damage in a collision for front seat occupants.
Twin chamber airbags
On the passenger's side, a highly advanced Twin Chamber airbag has been installed to lessen the impact of airbag deployment to the front seat passenger. This superior design has a V–shape distributing the physical impact to the shoulders and upper torso.
More responsive ABS braking with Brake Assist
The braking system has been further optimised with improved brake control performance. The Anti–lock Braking System (ABS) utilises a sophisticated modulation pattern to dramatically reduce stopping distances, regardless of conditions. Brake Assist (BA) helps supplement your braking effort during emergency stops.
Traction Control
Your connection with the road is enhanced during acceleration, with the help of Traction Control to minimise wheelspin.
The confidence of Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM)
Should you encounter challenging road conditions, an advanced Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system is standard across the IS 250 range. VDIM gives you a greater sense of control by integrating the braking, throttle and steering controls, for enhanced drivability.

Performance
The rush of a direct injection 2.5 litre V6
Light weight yet eagerly responsive, the all-alloy Quad Cam 2.5 litre V6 performs the moment you touch the throttle. Direct injection means fuel is sprayed into the cylinders at extremely high pressure, improving combustion. It also allows for a higher compression ratio, for more power across the revolution range. IS250's V6 engine also offers great fuel economy and low emissions.
Greater response through dual VVT-i
You can have enhanced performance on demand, or superior economy when you want it. Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) on the intake and the exhaust valves optimises engine breathing and efficiency at all engine speeds.
Dual exhausts open up performance
A dual exhaust system incorporating two main mufflers reduces back-pressure and frees up the performance of the engine.
Improved shifting performance in the 6-speed manual
For performance focused drivers, the IS 250 Prestige offers an advanced design, six-speed manual transmission for a dynamic driving experience. Triple synchromesh on first, second and third gears ensures smooth shifts and optimum durability. The close-ratio gearbox improves acceleration and gives you a gear for every corner.
Sequential automatic with paddle shifters
Alternatively, you may prefer the 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters on the steering wheel which let you shift gears manually, for a Formula One inspired driving experience. This fingertip shifting function is available when the shift lever is in the 'M' and the 'D' range. Or, in 'D' position, the intelligent transmission shifts gears seamlessly, for smooth acceleration.
Responsive Electric Power Steering
Intuitive Electric Power-assisted Steering ensures greater road feel at higher speeds. Then in tight parking situations, steering assist is increased for easier manoeuvrability.
Liquid filled bushings
For a more refined ride, the front suspension has large, liquid-filled bushings at the rear mount of the lower arms to reduce noise, vibration and harshness. More-responsive 'Monotube' shock absorbers help achieve a flat ride while improving traction, ride quality and comfort.
Multilink rear suspension
To adhere to undulating roads, the IS 250 has an advanced-design, multilink rear suspension system. An aluminium carrier reduces weight and improves response. Double link upper suspension arms optimise the geometry and further save weight.
Optional Sports Suspension
The optional IS 250 Prestige F-Sport Package offers Sports Suspension that has been optimally tuned to achieve superb handling and exceptional ride comfort. Sports Suspension includes enhanced front and rear stabilizer diameters to improve roll rigidity, while the multi-link rear suspension has improvements to the shock absorber damping force, which helps to provide better road holding.
