The slim Smart Card allows you to unlock the doors by simply gripping the handle, without ever taking the key card from your pocket. You can then start the car at the touch of a button, or open the power boot lid with a simple click of the remote.

Parking simplicity with Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA)

Imagine slipping into a parking space without even turning the steering wheel. Simply align the car ahead of your intended park and, using the buttons on the Electro Multi Vision (EMV) display, select reverse and remove your hands from the wheel. Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA) parks the car with breathless precision, leaving little for you to do but touch the brake pedal to regulate speed.

Rear View Camera* with Rear Guide Assist

For easier reversing, you have the guidance of a Rear View Camera discreetly mounted above the licence plate. Select reverse and a colour image of what's immediately behind your rear bumper appears on the Electro Multi Vision (EMV) screen. Rear Guide Assist gives you a more precise indication of distances.

Adaptive Front Lighting looks around corners

To give you greater night vision, powerful High Intensity Discharge (HID) low high–beam headlamps. On winding roads, the Adaptive Front–lighting System (AFS) redirects the low–beams, so you can literally see around corners.

10 parking sensors to guide you

When manoeuvring into tight parking spots, 10 parking sensors* integrated within the front and rear bumpers relay information audible alarms and visual displays to help you gauge parking clearances.

Self closing doors and power boot lid

Should you leave front or rear doors ajar, they automatically self–close the final few millimetres on your behalf. With similar ease, the power bootlid opens with a simple click of the remote and closes with just a gentle downward touch.

The brilliance of paintwork wet–sanded by hand

To ensure a deep, rich lustre and a flawless gloss, skilled craftsmen hand rub the paintwork between coats. An anti-scratch clear coating to the body ensures improved paint durability.

Intuitive rain sensing wipers

The warmth of a heated steering wheel

The woodgrain-look and premium steering wheel is heated for comfort on frosty mornings. It also incorporates controls for the audio system, Bluetooth®** and Active Cruise Control. A paddle shifter in the LS 460 Sports, inspired by Formula One, allows you to change the shift position while driving without removing your hands from the steering wheel. This gives you more responsive control over the vehicle during more spirited driving.

Environmental innovations ensure the climate control is less damaging to the environment. An energy conservation control reduces the power necessary to run the air conditioner and to improve fuel efficiency when the vehicle is in 'ECO Drive' mode.

Immerse your mind in the virtual concert hall dynamics of a 19–speaker, 450W audio system with 15 channel amplifier, by world renowned designer Mark Levinson. Designed specifically for the LS 460's cabin acoustics, it has WMA/MP3 compatible 6–disc in–dash DVD/CD changer and Automatic Sound Leveliser, which fine tunes sound quality as you drive. Rear Seat Entertainment System***

For rear seat passengers, the surround sound system is complemented by a power operated 9" Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen, integrated within the ceiling, letting you play DVD movies at the touch of the remote. 4.6L Quad Cam V8

Feel the rush of an all alloy, quad cam V8 engine as it accelerates you. It features Lexus dual injection (combining direct and port injection) and delivers 280 kW of power, yet returns fuel economy* of 11.1 L/100 km and low Euro IV compliant emissions.

World's first eight–speed automatic transmission

Experience a new sensation of smoothness with the almost imperceptible gear shifts of the first ever eight–speed automatic transmission. The electronically–controlled transmission is equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) shift control, so it selects the appropriate gear on hills, and minimises unnecessary shifts. Alternatively, sequential mode lets you take matters into your own hands. The LS 460 Sports is equipped with a modified version of this advanced transmission. Response is swift as upshifts occur in just 0.3 of a second. Select M-mode and your chosen gear is held thanks to Gear Step Hold Control allowing you to maximise the engine’s power reserves. When decelerating, Blipping Downshift Control logic briefly flicks the throttle between gears readying the transmission for gearshifts which are executed in just 0.2 of a second.

The spirit of racing

As you touch the start button in the LS 460 Sports and grip the premium steering wheel, gear selection is right at your fingertips via race inspired paddle shifters when in D-range. The engine transmission has been optimised to work as one as when climbing hills and cornering, enhanced by a Driver Response and Acceleration Management System (DRAMS). So you call the shots and DRAMS delivers with exhilarating results.

Hand built precision

Hand assembly of every engine includes meticulous cleaning and checking of all engine components prior to assembly. Each crankshaft is individually inspected for uniformity, then polished resulting in smoother engine operation. Then after assembly, every engine is fired up on a test bench by a master craftsman who listens to it through a stethoscope. He then fine-tunes the engine if necessary to eliminate any irregularities.

You'll barely hear the engine running, thanks to precision engineering. After assembly, every engine is run at high speed and a skilled technician listens intently through a stethoscope, checking for any abnormal sounds. Any necessary adjustments are then made before it is given a clean bill of health.

Maximum airflow with Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS)

An Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS) varies air induction by automatically adjusting the intake pipe length according to engine speed. This optimises intake efficiency while a dual exhaust system helps let the burnt gases out.

Hands-free parking with Intelligent Parking Assist

Even a simple task like parking is handled with remarkable precision. Lexus is the world’s first luxury vehicle manufacturer to introduce Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA)* to a production vehicle in the Australian market, offering stress-free parking. Simply touch the IPA pre support switch on the steering wheel for standard or parallel parking. Beeps will tell you where to position the car and when to select reverse. Then there’s little for you to do but control the speed of the vehicle by touching the brake pedal.

Lane change indicator

As you change lanes, the lane change indicator flasher warns other drivers of your move. Simply touch the combination switch on the indicator column in the direction of your lane change and the moment you turn the wheel, the turn signal flashes and then switches off automatically.

Radar technology watches out for your safety

Discreetly integrated within the front grille is an advanced millimetre wave radar sensor. It relays data to the Pre–Collision safety System (PCS)*, which can predict some possible collisions with oncoming obstacles. THE PCS then retracts the slack in the seatbelts, and adjusts the brake controls for maximum braking performance, helping to minimise the impact of a collision.

The reassurance of Pre–Collision safety

For added peace of mind, the Lexus Pre–Collision safety System (PCS)* can help reduce collision injury and damage. A radar sensor in the front grille constantly scans for objects in front of the car. If the system determines that a collision is unavoidable, it retracts the front seatbelts and signals the Brake Assist to increase braking force help reduce collision speed.

Brake Hold keeps you secure

To keep you from moving while stopped on a level road, a brake hold function maintains brake pressure on all four wheels, keeping the car stationary. The brakes are automatically released the moment you touch the accelerator pedal.

Acting ahead for your safety

You're embraced by the reassurance of a comprehensive package of technologies includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC). The braking system combines an Anti–lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake–force Distribution (EBD).

The confidence of Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management

Should you encounter a loss of traction,an advanced Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system offers a greater sense of control. It integrates the braking, throttle and steering controls, for enhanced drivability.

Active headrests

In the event of a rear collision at low speeds, the front surface of the headrest moves forward and upward, a function made possible by a high speed spring device built into the headrest. This helps reduce the sudden backward distortion of the neck and assists in preventing whiplash injury for front seat occupants.

A comprehensive 10 airbag package

In the event of a collision, Lexus LS 460 has a comprehensive package of ten SRS airbags. It has dual–stage SRS airbags for the front driver and passenger, front–seat side airbags, SRS knee airbags help protect the lower limbs of the driver and front seat passenger, SRS rear side airbags help protect the rear outer passengers, and full–length side curtain–shield airbags.
