LEXUS RC F SECURES VICTORY AT SUZUKA
Top qualifier Nakayama produced a spirited drive to regain the lead, recorded the only sub-two-minute GT300 lap of the race and took his Lexus to the chequered flag.
In the GT500 class, Lexus Team KeePer TOM'S pair Ryo Hirakawa and Nick Cassidy staged a strong finish to take third place in their LC 500, leaving them just six points off the series lead.
Nakayama said he was thrilled with the performance of the Lexus RC F and its handling through Suzuka's legendary fast curve, 130R.
"Today our car's performance was wonderful, and we were able to come from behind to take the win," he said.
"The reason we won today was the fact I could go through the 130R curve consistently at such high speed. I am grateful to the Lexus engineers for giving us such a great car."
Further weekend success for the Lexus RC F GT3 occurred at Silverstone in England with a breakthrough result in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup race.
Markus Paltalla, Stéphane Ortelli and Norbert Siedler gave the RC F its first series podium finish.
Ortelli said the Emil Frey Racing RC F GT3 finish was reward for the team's rapid improvement with its new Lexus cars.
