Lexus Australia today celebrates the remarkable legacy of the Lexus LC, the flagship luxury coupe that has stood as a symbol of daring design, meticulous craftsmanship and emotionally engaging performance since its global launch in 2017.
As a grand finale for the Lexus LC in Australia, the LC 500 Special Edition Coupe is set to arrive in the second half of 2026. The Australian allocation of this highly coveted vehicle has already been exhausted, following the release of only a very small number of units.

Inspired by the LF‑LC concept revealed in 2012, the production LC translated visionary design into reality through close collaboration between design and engineering teams, and the introduction of the GA–L (Global Architecture – Luxury) platform, delivering a low centre of gravity and exceptional rigidity.
In Australia, the LC line-up has showcased two distinct Lexus powertrains: the LC 500 with a naturally aspirated 5.0‑litre V8 producing 351 kW and 540 Nm, paired with a Direct‑Shift 10‑speed automatic transmission; and the LC 500h featuring the Lexus Multi Stage Hybrid system with a combined output of 264 kW. These powertrains embody the Lexus hallmark blend of refinement, responsiveness and long‑distance grand‑touring comfort.
In 2020, the LC range was expanded with the addition of the LC 500 Convertible, allowing customers to experience the thrill of the LC 500’s sonorous V8 engine in open-top luxury.
Australian updates have continued to elevate the LC experience. The 2021 model introduced chassis and drivability enhancements, including transmission tuning, increased body rigidity, lighter suspension components and Active Cornering Assist — while maintaining the coupe’s indulgent luxury specification. In 2023, Lexus Connected Services2 and the latest Lexus multimedia system were introduced across the LC range in Australia, alongside enhancements to Lexus Safety System+1 features.
From Takumi craftsmanship to its evocative design, the LC has stood as a halo for the Lexus brand in Australia, capturing the imagination of owners and enthusiasts alike. Its legacy will continue to inform future Lexus products as the brand advances towards an electrified future defined by performance, craftsmanship and emotional design.
While the Lexus LC approaches the end of its lifecycle in Australia, it remains an important part of the Lexus design and performance legacy.
Looking ahead, the future for Lexus is incredibly exciting. At the Japan Mobility Show in 2025, Lexus unveiled its DISCOVER Vision, a bold expression of how emerging technologies and human‑centered philosophy will come together to create a new kind of Lexus experience.
